The Lexus European Fly Fishing competition is certainly one of the best run fly fishing competitions that the UK has to offer. We have fished this competition a couple of times and the camaraderie between anglers is fantastic. If you have never fished an 'open' before then this is the competition to try. All fishing is to international fly fishing rules so no gold heads etc. The most enjoyable days we have found are the 'floating line only'. They are great fun and really make you work to get our bag limits. This competition is ran by John Horsey who not only is one of the nicest anglers out there but also one of the best. I have just read his website and his guiding service starts from £200 per day which is great value when you consider the costs to hire the boat etc. The dates for the competition are below, but get in there quick as this is a very popular Fly Fishing competition.
