Kelly Rash from Kansas City bested the mostly all male field of twenty Hallmark executives in a short three hour charter with this 9 pound yellow jack on a jig and gulp shrimp out Miami’s Key Biscayne. Congrats Miss Kelly!

Italian adventurers Fabrizio Moglia and Chiara Cecchinato enjoyed five days in the backcountry of Everglades National Park fly fishing and sight seeing. Fabrizio’s chosen activity was fly fishing while Chiara’s was photography. Together they captured and released a lot of what this park offers. Fabrizio is an excellent fly fisherman and has traveled the world pursuing this passion and Chiara’s love for photography make these two a perfect match. Fabrizio released quite a mixed bag of fish from snook, redfish, seatrout, bluefish, mackerel, snapper, jacks, ladyfish, a 40lb shark that did his own releasing after a 10 minute fight and boating three tarpon a 40 lb, 80 lb and one we estimate at 115 lbs. Fabrizio also sampled our night time snook fishery and gave this a big thumps up after catching one on his first cast and released another 10 snook with his good Friend Franco. Fabrizio and Chiara run their own internet site dedicated to fly fishing and photography. Check them out at: http://www.flyage.net . Steve Kantner a.k.a. “The Land Captain” has been putting together fly fishing seminars for last few years and his latest seminar was devoted to improving fly casting proficiency and overall fly fishing performance. This one entitled “Three for the Money” featured Lefty Kreh, Andy Mill and Steve Kantner and I was pleased to be invited as one of the instructors for the day’s events. Steve has this down to a science from start to finish and the 35 guests enjoyed a hand’s on day with some of the biggest names in fly fishing. There wasn’t much that was not covered in this sold out all day affair and Steve has plans for several more seminars with the next one to be scheduled in the fall. For info contact Steve at steve@landcaptain.com .

Brian Fleshsig owner of Mad River Outfitters in Columbus, Ohio arranges several fly fishing travel trips out of his fly shop each year and his latest trip “The Florida Sampler” Hosted by fly fishing personality Flip Pallot of ESPN’s “The Walker’s Cay Chronicles” fame. The three day trip included eight anglers and four guides covering the waters of both Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park. Each day anglers would sample another guide and different body of water and just about everything was caught and released from tarpon, snook, redfish, seatrout, pompano, snapper, mackerel and even one or two bonefish. Flip trailered down his super customized Waterman 18 skiff and showcased some of his innovative ideas that I’m sure we will start seeing on newer built boats. Brian and party stayed in Florida City because there is still no lodging in the park from the 2005 hurricane season. Maybe next year they will join me in the camping that is still available and rough it each night with fresh grilled fish, steak and potatoes and maybe even some adult beverages. Check out Brian’s website for future trip at: http://www.madriveroutfitters.com . Flip has a new show out called “Flip Pallots Fishing The Keys” that airs on the new cable channel Versus. Check out: http://www.versus.com for scheduling.

Paul Gordy from Colorado fished with his good friend and south Florida angler Milo Bradley for a day in the deep interior of Everglades National Park. Together they caught several baby tarpon, snook up to 8 pounds and redfish to complete a glades slam. They caught just about all their fish on shallow running plugs. Great day guys!

Florida resident and tournament bass angler Alan Rogers fishing with his son Andrew off of Alligator in six hours released 70 plus bass up to 5 pounds on soft plastic horny toads and wacky worming chartreuse senkos. Their both true competitors. Fine job guys!

Robert and Ana Sophie from Hollywood, Florida treated themselves to a night of throwing flies and Berkley gulp shrimp at some very willing snook. Each caught their first fish on fly and having your first fish on fly a snook is pretty good. Together they boated around 10 to 12 snook and hooked many more that either broke them off on dock pilings or just came unbuttoned. I hope I didn’t keep you both out too late. Robert and Ana are new parents and celebrating their first mother’s and father’s day this year. They are the proud parents of Peyton. Nice job guys!

All the best
